The Problem: Obesity

60 MILLION OBESE ADULTS IN NORTH AMERICA
9 MILLION OBESE CHILDREN AND TEENS IN NORTH AMERICA

ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?

This is not a difficult question to answer. Just by feeling your body, looking at your body, and being honest with yourself - you will find your answer. It is not something to feel bad about, it is merely a condition that needs to be treated like any other. In fact, letting yourself sink into depression over this dis-ease only helps to perpetuate it.

"Underweight", "overweight", "obesity", and "morbid obesity" are all medical terms for when a person is greater or less than the healthy weight for a given height. These are serious conditions and should be treated as you would any other dis-ease.

It is not an issue of beauty, it is an issue of health. The medical community states that an overweight or obese person is at greater risk for many dis-eases and illnesses.

Hypertension
Type 2 diabetes
Stroke
Sleep apnea
Cancer (colon, uterine, and breast)
Gallbladder disease
The list goes on...

WHAT CAUSES OBESITY?

When you feed your body more energy (calories) than what your body uses in a day, the excess energy is stored as fat. The cause of this calorie imbalance may differ from one person to another:

√ Eating too much foods that are high in fat / energy
√ Eating foods that are acidic
√ Lack of physical activity
√ Psychological stress
√ Genetics (this does not mean that you MUST be obese!)

When the body takes in excessive sums of acidic foods (average American diets), it needs to expel these acids to avoid damage to the body. This is a function of the liver and kidneys. Shallow breathing, lack of exercise, excessive alcohol, and other toxicity exposures can lead to liver stress and kidney malfunction. Then the acids in the body do not always get eliminated as they should.

What is your body to do at this point? If it can't eliminate the acids, then it has to store them.
Alkaline is the opposite of acid. Increasing your body's alkalinityaids the body's natural acid elimination functions, thus decreasing the stored acids / fat. If your body CAN get rid of these acid wastes, it will not store them!

It is also important to note that during the process of storing these acids, the body uses minerals from other partsof your body to balance the effect of the stored acids. It will take potassium, magnesium and calcium from your bones in order to properly handle the stored acids (fat). Potassium and magnesium leaves your body while calcium goes into your blood; and now your bones are that much weaker.

WHAT CAN BE DONE?

By eliminating the causes of your excess weight or obesity, your body will become healthier and happier!

  • Exercise, use your body! Find physical activities that you can enjoy!
  • Change your diet. Review this list of common acid and alkaline foods. Eat well-balanced meals containing less animal protein, cheese/dairy, alcohol, soda, refined/processed foods, saturated fats, artificial additives and chemicals. Introduce more whole foods, vegetables and fruits, and alkaline grains into your daily diet.
  • Drink plenty of alkaline water!
  • Changing your diet is often a difficult process. Luckily, advances in technology have delivered the ability to create extremely alkalized water with potent anti-oxidizing properties.
  • Changing the water you drink is much easier than the food you enjoy! Although we don't recommend it as a substitute to eating more healthy, we certainly feel that high alkaline water is a great step towards balancing your body!
